Aleve (Naproxen) is a nonsteroidal inflammatory drug (NSAID). Aleve works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. Aleve is used to relieve pain from many conditions such as menstrual cramps, dental pain, muscle aches and headaches. It also reduces pain, swelling and joint stiffness caused by arthritis, bursitis and gout attacks.
