OMEPRAZOLE

Omeprazole belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. Omeprazole is used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It relieves symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, heartburn and persistent cough. Some common side effects are nausea, stomach pain, headache, gas vomiting, diarrhea. Serious side effects include fundic gland polyps, systemic lupus erythematosus (CLE), kidney damage, inflammation of the stomach lining, severe diarrhea, vitamin B-12 deficiency and low magnesium levels
