Rituximab is used to treat certain types of cancer such as: non-hodgkin’s lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia. It works by slowly or stopping the growth of cancer cells.
It is also used to treat severe autoimmune reactions that cause blisters and breakdown of the skin and mucous membranes. Some brands of Rituximab are used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and can decrease joint pain and swelling. Rituximab is also used in adults and children at least 2 years old with certain rare disorders that cause inflammation of blood vessels and other tissues in the body.
Some side effects are: heartburn, diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, chills, fever, headache, night sweats, sneezing, sore throat, vomiting, weakness, muscle or joint pain, back pain or dizziness.
