VITAMIN D

Vitamin D is a group of fat-soluble secosteroids responsible for increasing intestinal absorption of magnesium, calcium, phosphate and multiple other biological effects. The most important compounds in this group are vitamin D2 and vitamin D3.

Vitamin D is obtained from sun exposure, foods, and supplements. Vitamin D is sometimes called ‘sunshine vitamin’.
